John Innes Centre
Research Facility Wet Lab
The project was a new build working in partnership with Morgan Sindall (who specified the design). The architect then consulted with Millar West for the finer detailed specification. Both 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D full image specifications were submitted to the end user. The lab was constructed for rigorous use, with Trespa Top Lab Plus 16mm solid core material used for the tops, under bench power support and reagent stands, to offer the best protection for chemical use. The Reagent stand carries power, data and gas valves each side with additional power supplied underneath. The perimeter has been designed for easy cleaning with mobile storage underneath, large Trespa splash backs and toughened glass end panels for further protection. The double drainer sink is 316 Grade Acid Resistant and the ceramic sinks offer a hand washing facility with sensor taps. DDA benches incorporated into the end peninsular unit, offer the ability to adjust each bench from 690mm to 900mm, with an upstand attached to contain spillage.
